ACR Military Network: Rules of Engagement

The American College of Radiology (ACR) Military Network is a vibrant, internal discussion space specifically designed for our dedicated military radiology professionals. This platform is a unique opportunity to connect, share insights, and support each other in our critical roles. To foster a productive and supportive environment within this network, we've established a few key guidelines. Let's work together to make this a valuable and thriving resource for everyone.

    Our Foundation: Respect and Courtesy

At the heart of our network is a shared commitment to professionalism and respect. When engaging on this platform, please remember we are all colleagues with a common dedication to radiology and our military service. Treat every interaction with courtesy and consideration. Disagreements may arise, but it's crucial to address them respectfully and constructively.

    Key Principles for Engagement:

    • Be Respectful and Courteous: This should guide all interactions. Use polite language and consider the impact of your words on others. Remember that online communication can sometimes lack the nuances of in-person conversations, so clarity and tact are essential.

    • Strive to Be Supportive: This network is a place to connect, share knowledge, and offer encouragement. Please aim to be supportive of your fellow members, offering assistance and positive feedback where appropriate.

    • Avoid Confrontational Language: While healthy discussion is encouraged, please refrain from language that could be perceived as aggressive, accusatory, or personal attacks. Focus on the issues at hand, not on individuals.

    • Focus on Professional Topics: Keep discussions relevant to the interests and professional development of military radiology members. This includes clinical insights, educational opportunities, relevant publicly available information, and best practices in the field.

Content Guidelines: What to Share (and What to Avoid)

This internal network is intended for professional collaboration and support. Please be mindful of the information you share and ensure it aligns with the following guidelines:

    Appropriate Content:

    • Professional Discussions: Share insights on topics, discuss experiences relevant to the community

    • Relevant Articles and Resources: Post links to publicly available articles, guidelines, or educational materials that would benefit the community.

    • Questions and Requests for Advice: Feel free to ask for input or guidance on professional challenges you may be facing (without sharing any sensitive information).

    • Announcements of Publicly Available Events: Share information about upcoming conferences, webinars, or other professional development opportunities that are open to the public.

    • Positive and Encouraging Messages: Offer congratulations on achievements or words of support during challenging times.

    Content to Avoid (Crucial Restrictions):

    • No Sensitive Military Information: This is paramount. Absolutely do not share any information that could be considered sensitive, classified, or for official use only.

    • No Operational Information: Do not discuss any specific past, present, or future military operations, exercises, deployments, or strategic planning.

    • No Specific Places, Dates, or Times of Military Activities: Refrain from mentioning any specific locations of military units or activities, or any specific dates or times related to military operations or schedules.

    • No Personally Identifiable Health Information (Beyond General Professional Discussion): While discussing cases, ensure all patient information is completely anonymized and adheres to HIPAA regulations and any other relevant privacy policies. The focus should be on the radiological findings and management, not individual patient details.

    • No Political Advocacy (in an official ACR capacity): While individual members have their own views, this platform should remain focused on professional topics related to military radiology.

    • No Discriminatory or Offensive Content: Any content that is discriminatory, hateful, or offensive in any way is strictly prohibited.

    • No Commercial Endorsements or Spam: This platform is for professional exchange, not for marketing products or services.

Maintaining a Secure and Respectful Space

By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that our ACR Military Network remains a valuable, respectful, and secure space for all. Your cooperation in maintaining these standards is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your commitment to our community and your dedication to the field of military radiology. We look forward to engaging with you in a positive and productive manner!
